Research and Evaluation initiative at Invision is steered by Dr. Padam Singh, Director, Invision a distinguished Statistician of repute.
He holds a doctorate degree in statistics from Delhi University. He has received specialized training on socio-economic indicators from US Bureau of Economic Analysis, Washington. Dr. Padam Singh has been a cadre officer of Indian Statistical Service, Govt. of India and has worked at senior positions for Govt of India. He has a unique combination of expertise as Professor of Statistics (Pusa Institute, Delhi), Planner (Planning Commission) and Researcher (ICMR). As a Professor he taught and PhD students. His contributions in Theory of Statistics are part of PG textbooks in sample surveys. He has published 100 publications in peer reviewed national and international journals and has guided 26 PhDs.
In the capacity of Joint Advisor, Planning Commission Perspective Planning he coordinated with various central ministries and state Govts in connection with preparation of National Five Year Plans, Annual Plans and their Mid-Term Appraisals. He has been member of High Level Working Groups of Planning Commission including VISION 2020. As Member, National Statistical Commission, GOI he was in charge of Census & Surveys for all ministries/ departments.
Dr. Padam Singh in his capacity as Addl. Director General, ICMR (1997-2004) and Director, National Institute of Medical Statistics (1987-1996) have undertaken number of operational research studies findings of which have been used in modification of national programmes of Health & Nutrition. Importantly, he continues to be member of High level Committees of Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, Office of Registrar General of India, Ministry of Health and ICMR.
Even after retirement he has been actively involved in socio-economic research in the country. In his capacity as Head, Research & Evaluation, EPOS Health India (2005 and 2012) he coordinated Annual Health Survey (AHS), one of the biggest surveys in Asia, in the states of UP, MP and Uttarakhand for Office of Registrar General of India. He led the execution of National Family Health Survey (NFHS), District Level Household Survey (DLHS) and Concurrent Evaluation of National Rural Health Mission (CENRHM).
Since 2013, at Invision he has been spearheading studies focusing on gender, e-governance and social equity. Aligning with the present times he aims to take the organization to new horizons.
